Far from the rustic huts we were expecting, Marlin Bay's private bures (villas) were large and luxurious. Tucked in the coconut trees just a few yards back from the beach, each bure is elegantly furnished with rattan, bamboo and decorated with colorful splashes of fabric and works of art.
Every bure is a mini-suite with a spectacular marble lined bath, a king poster bed and a sitting room with one twin bed and settee. Every front porch has a table, lounge chairs and a beautiful view; and if you walk a few feet in any direction, you can find a cozy hammock to hunker down in with your favorite book or companion.
We spent more time in our bure than we care to admit, but it was just so comfortable and whenever we felt particularly decadent, the kitchen staff were happy to send over a few drinks and snacks to help us wile away our time.
In addition to our one bedroom villa Marlin Bay now has four beach front, 2-bedroom, 1000-sq-ft. bures that are great for families. These have air conditioning, one and a half baths and are elegantly furnished with artwork. The upstairs units have a balcony and downstairs have porches.
