As Crusoe's is a small intimate property, you will find that meal times are often a wonderful time to meet your fellow guests. You may find yourself sharing your adventures with the couple at the table next to you- or perhaps, you steal away to a quiet table and share one of our many tropical cocktails that are offered during happy hour and enjoy the panoramic views of the stunning sunset from the deck.
As a wonderful start to each evening, you will enjoy the traditional sounding of the Lali and the lighting of the flares.
Our local "chef" will keep you well fed with a variety of traditional Fijian as well as contemporary cuisine. You will enjoy fresh banana pancakes for breakfast and "Fijian" burgers for lunch. Dinner is always a treat with a wide variety of local flavors to choose from. As a special treat, you will often find fresh picked flowers placed on your dining table. While you are enjoying the evening you can sit back and relax to the wonderful music of the serenaders who play right through dinner and until the last guest leaves the bar each evening.
For special occasions, (which is weekly at Crusoe's Retreat!) a "lovo" is prepared. A lovo is a special earthen oven that is used to prepare a variety of vegetables, fruit and meat. It is sure to be a remarkable event for all.
On the Lovo Night you will be able to join in our traditional "meke", when a group of ladies from the nearby village come to the resort and perform traditional Fijian songs and dances. Come see the beautiful musical heritage of these islanders and you may find yourself singing along in no time!
